Greetings SJB School Community,
Please continue to keep the Annunciation community in Minneapolis in your prayers today, and over the coming days, weeks and months as they grapple with and recover from this horrible tragedy. Know that as a school community, we are routinely and consistently looking at school safety procedures and refining and revising as necessary. Our exterior doors are always secured during the school day, and as you know, we do not allow visitors in the building without proper screening and VIRTUS training. We conduct safety drills, including fire, tornado, bus evacuation, and active shooter drills. Last year, we installed a brand new PA system that connects all of our buildings and classrooms in a comprehensive way. All of our classrooms are equipped with Nightlock security devices and lockdown shades. Our local CPD officer works with us when we conduct our lockdown / active shooter drills, helping us see any obvious gaps in coverage. We do not take for granted the safety and security of our staff and students! Finally, if your Eagle has questions or fears about today's events, consider asking them questions about what they know and responding with developmentally appropriate information. See below on how to speak with children about violence and more information in Talking to Children about Violence for Teacher and Parents & Coping after Mass Violence. As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns. And thank you for your support, Peggy Roket Principal
